Each county appraisal district determines the value of all taxable property within the county boundaries. Tax Code Section 25.18 requires appraisal districts to reappraise all property in its jurisdiction at least once every three years. Each appraisal office shall implement the plan for periodic reappraisal. When appraisers are performing an on-site inspection, they are identifying property characteristics that affect property value i.e., age, condition and verifying if any structures have been added or removed since the last inspection. WCAD’s 2022 Re Appraisal Plan includes rural subdivisions and cities.
A “re-check” is a specific reason for an on-site inspection i.e., new house, mobile home installed, pool, metal building, structure was removed or torn down, etc. WCAD performs a re-check when our office has been notified of a change. Typically, our office is notified by the property owner, lender, permit or issuance of the property situs. If an appraiser(s) visits your property for a re-check one year and your property falls within the appraisal plan the following year or vise versa, you may have a visit from a WCAD appraiser(s) within the three years.
